Descrição

Though women are increasingly occupying the public space and productive work, yet there is much to be desired in terms of their presence, voice and control of public resources for their own welfare and involvement in the welfare of the whole society. The perception of the society on the traits and capabilities of womenaffect the decisions to engage women in important positions. The purpose of this paper is to analyse various researches and present a synthesis of the existing findings on the gender differences, their causes and how the differences contribute to organisational effectiveness. This paper analyses and evaluates the major theoretical positions to explain the existing gender differences and the factors causing them. The distinct competencies of women highlighted by studies can enrich organizational culture and promote organizational effectiveness while the constructed perceptions and practices must be continuously tackled through organizational strategies.
